CC mourns passing of Ed Warner

The Colorado College athletics department and entire campus community are saddened by the loss of Ed Warner, who passed away on June 11 due to complications from a stroke he suffered two days earlier.

Warner, equipment manager for the CC hockey and women's soccer teams the last two years, was 35 years old. He is survived by his mother, Sandy Warner, of Binghamton, N.Y., as well as a sister, Jody Fendick, a niece, Sydney Fendick, and a nephew, Colby Fendick, also of Binghamton.

Funeral services in Binghamton are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. (EST) Thursday, June 19, at the JA McCormack Funeral Home, located at 141 Main Street. Calling hours there are 4 p.m.-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 18.

The family has asked that you do not send flowers, but instead make a contribution in Ed's name to Donor Alliance, 720 S. Colorado Blvd., Suite 800, Denver, CO 80246.

"There is no way to fully explain the sense of loss we all feel,” said Ken Ralph, director of athletics at CC. "Ed was a true professional who also remembered that we all need to have fun. His expertise, effort, energy, sense of humor and enthusiasm touched our students and staff. His service on behalf of our students will never be forgotten."

A native of Chenango Forks, N.Y., Warner joined the Tigers staff in summer 2006 after serving as an equipment manager at Union College for three seasons. He worked primarily with the men's and women's hockey programs at Union while assisting in equipment-room operations for the school's other 23 varsity programs.

He also doubled as an assistant lacrosse coach there. Warner brought a strong professional and diverse background to Colorado College, having also worked as a sales representative and corporate trainer for eight years prior to his stint at Union.

He drove his first Zamboni at age eight, at a local ice rink where he worked for 15 years. An avid fisherman and masters level lacrosse player, he was pursuing a degree from Syracuse University after previously attending both Broome Community College and SUNY Stony Brook.
