The Colorado College football program will welcome 20 first-year players when the Tigers begin training in August for the 2008 season, head coach Bob Bodor announced today.
The class includes 10 players projected to play offense, eight on the defensive side and one kicking specialist. Seven of the newcomers were linemen in high school, while five played linebacker and three were quarterbacks.
“I am really looking forward to working with these guys over the next four years,” Bodor said. “This is an especially strong class on the offensive and defensive lines, although we feel like we got a good mix of players at all positions. I expect several of them to play for us in 2008.”
A total of 10 different states are represented in the class.
Eight players are Colorado natives, while three hail from the state of Texas. Two players are from California, while one will come from the states of Arizona, Connecticut, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, New York and Pennsylvania.
The class of 2012 includes three local products – kicker
Tyler Brickell (Coronado), tailback
Luke Northam (Classical Academy) and offensive lineman
Jason Toth (Widefield).
The other recruits from Colorado are wide receiver
Mike Box (Denver), offensive lineman
Chris Jarmon (Boulder), quarterback
Kevin Osborne (Delta), offensive lineman
Kevin Paterra (Niwot), and defensive lineman
Pete Williams (Denver).
Colorado College kicks off its 2008 season on Sept. 13 when the Tigers play host to Occidental College at Washburn Field.
