A pair of seniors made sure Colorado College finished the season with a winning record and ended their careers on a positive note.
Jordan Reese had a goal and an assist, and Trevor Cobb scored CC’s first goal as the Tigers closed out the 2009 season with a 2-1 victory at Millsaps College on Saturday night.
The game wasn’t as close as the score would indicate. CC had a commanding 27-9 advantage in shots on goal and a 7-2 margin in corner kicks.
Cobb finally put the Tigers on the board in the 41st minute when he scored on a header off a crossing pass from Reese.
Reese added what proved to be his fourth game winner of the season 1:54 into the second half. The midfielder from Montrose, Colo., recorded eight goals and seven assists during his last nine games.
Millsaps, which was playing a man down after Hayden Baker took a red card late in the first half, caught a major break when Daniel Moise was awarded a penalty shot with just over 22 minutes remaining in the game.
But that was the only ball the Majors would get past Andy McGhie, who recorded six saves.
Stephen Andrieu kept Millsaps in the game by stopping 13 shots.
Colorado College completed the season with a 10-9-1 overall record and finished in a tie with DePauw University for third in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference with a 6-4 mark.
