Tigers top Division II Grand Canyon University

Competing against upper-division opponents, the women's swimming and diving team wrapped up three consecutive days in the pool by outscoring Grand Canyon University, 142-66, on Saturday at the Mesa State College Invitational. Air Force and Mesa State College posted victories against the Tigers in dual-meet scoring.
 
Emily Stumhofer led the Tigers with a pair of fifth-place finishes, posting a time of 2:20.08 in the 200-meter freestyle and touching the wall in 2:37.98 in the 200 backstroke.
 
She also took sixth place in the in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:12.89 and teamed with Andrea Tukan, Anna Jackson and Whitney Petersen to take sixth in the 200 medley relay in 2:14.32.
 
Petersen claimed sixth in the 200 individual medley, clocking in at 2:44.31, and her time of 1:13.95 was good for seventh place in the 100 back.
 
Jackson finished sixth in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 3:06.05.
 
“The women beat Grand Canyon today on the strength of our depth,” head coach Anne Goodman James said. “We were beginning to show the wear and tear of our third day of racing, but managed to stay tough throughout the meet.”
 
The Tigers participated in the 'Hour of Power' fundraising relay on Thursday and competed at Colorado School of Mines on Friday.
 
Colorado College will take a weekend off before returning to action on Nov. 21-22 at the SCAC West Invitational in Dallas, Texas.
