Colorado College was one of a record 62 NCAA Division III volleyball programs to receive the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for its performance in the classroom during the in 2007-08 academic year.
It marks the fifth time in the last six years and seventh overall that the Tigers have earned the award.
Colorado College was one of only two members of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, one of four schools from the state of Colorado, and one of 18 teams that competed in the 2007 NCAA Division III tournament to be honored.
The award, which was first presented following the 1992-93 academic year, honors college and high school teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the academic year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale and a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
Colorado College opens its 2008 schedule on Aug. 29 when the Tigers play host to the Molten Pikes Peak Invitational at Reid Gymnasium. CC will play the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, the College of St. Catherine, Colby-Sawyer College and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh during the two-day tournament.
