Tigers win Colorado College Invitational

The Colorado College women's cross country team placed five of its runners in the top 11 to lead the Tigers to the team title at the 2008 Colorado College Invitational on Saturday morning at North Monument Valley Park.
 
The Tigers finished with 39 points in the 6K race, 22 points ahead of Division I Northern Colorado. Colby Community College was third with 95 points, followed by Garden City Junior College (128) and Tabor College (133).
 
Maggie Harkins finished fifth overall in a time of 25:23 to lead Colorado College. Margot Cutter was only five seconds behind in sixth place, while Claire Daniel's time of 25:40 was good for seventh place.
 
Kate Aitchison took 10th place in a time of 25:59, while Emily McCarthy finished out the scoring by taking 11th in a time of 26:06.
 
Ashley Birger, an unattached runner, was the overall winner with a time of 23:46, a split second ahead of Colby's Tonya Nero.
 
Colorado College will return to action on Oct. 4 when the Tigers travel to the University of Colorado in Boulder for the 2008 Rocky Mountain Shootout.
