Tigers experience a Knight to forget

Colorado College couldn't stop Ryan Kolander at either end of the court and dropped a 74-59 decision to Martin Luther College on Saturday afternoon.

Kolander posted game highs of 19 points and nine rebounds to help the Knights snap a six-game losing streak. He made five of seven field-goal attempts, including both three-point attempts, and all seven free throws.

MLC also got help from Greg Holzhueter, who scored eight of his 15 points during a 16-3 run which gave the Knights a 28-15 lead with 8:06 remaining in the first half.

Meanwhile, Colorado College made just three of 15 field-goal attempts during a span of 10:02 as Martin Luther College built a 40-23 with just over three minutes remaining in the first half.

Jarrell Sweet had five points during a 13-3 run which saw the Tigers pull to within 48-40 with 12:31 to play, but that was as close as CC would get.

The Knights answered with a 14-4 run and the Tigers never got closer than 15 points.

Nick Rose paced the Tigers with 15 points and six rebounds before fouling out with 3:46 to play.

Sweet tied his season high with seven steals and dished out six assists, while Brady Ohlsen added 11 points.

Martin Luther improved to 2-7, while CC slipped to 5-3.

Colorado College concludes its two-game trip to Minnesota at Macalester College on Monday afternoon.
