The four-game Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference softball series between Southwestern University and Colorado College scheduled for Saturday and Sunday has been cancelled and will not be re-scheduled.
“We would have done everything in our power to try to get a field ready,” said Colorado College head coach Erin Thacker. “But there was no guarantee that we would have been able to play two games on Sunday.”
The teams were scheduled to play at Four Diamond Sports Complex in Colorado Springs. The weather forecast for the Front Range calls for continued snow through midday Saturday and a high of only 30 degrees.
The decision to cancel was made after consulting with the athletic administration at Southwestern. The Pirates, who already had their flight delayed once on Friday, had planned on flying into Denver and driving to Colorado Springs.
