Rose earns all-South Region honors

Nick Rose added to his growing list of postseason honors by being named to the all-South Region third team by D3Hoops.com.

Rose, the first men's basketball player from CC to earn first-team honors from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, is the program's first player to earn all-region honors since Michael Reich was first-team all-West Region selection in 2005.

Nick Rose has emerged as one of the top players in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference,” head coach Andy Partee said. “Several coaches in the SCAC have mentioned that Nick is the most improved player in our conference.”

The junior guard led the SCAC and ranked No. 13 in Division III averaging 21.9 points per game. He also is No. 13 in the nation with a .875 free-throw percentage.

Rose finished the 2009-10 season with 548 points, which ranks ninth on the program's all-time single-season list. He scored a career-high 34 points during CC's 93-89 victory over Austin College, one of six games in which he eclipsed the 30-point mark.

The product of Lakewood, Colo., led the Tigers in scoring 19 times out of 25 games and finished the season ranked second on the team with 144 rebounds, 47 assists and 40 steals.

Rose also led the conference in minutes played, finished sixth in steals, seventh in field-goal percentage (.453) and 3-point field goals made (47), ninth in 3-point field goal percentage (.362) and 11th in rebounds.

“As co-captain of our team, Nick continues to lead by example through his hard work and dedication,” Partee said. “The caliber of his leadership is certainly conducive to not only changing a culture and building a program, but also winning basketball games.”

Rose and Centre College's Danny Noll were the only players from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference to be honored.
