An All-American as a sophomore in 2009,
Jackson Brainerd already appears well on his way to repeating the feat this fall.
Brainerd didn't come close to matching his personal best 8K clocking of 25:04, but his 26:32 in Saturday's season-opening time trial in Boulder was good enough for a top-eight finish in a field of 44 that included at least half a dozen Division I athletes from the University of Colorado.
Brainerd also paced a contingent of 10 CC runners making their 2010 debuts.
Senior
Dan Kraft and junior
Max Gerken also turned in impressive performances, as Kraft took 21st place with time of 28:51 and Gerken claimed 23rd at 29:06.
Dave Wilder (29:58), Mike Dougan (30:16) and
Ben Taber (30:36) stayed together as a pack while finishing 28th, 29th and 30th, respectively.
The Tigers resume action on Saturday, Sept. 11, at the CU-Colorado Springs Rust Buster Invitational in Monument Valley Park before serving as hosts of their own annual Colorado College Invitational there a week later.
