Box Score Colorado College will look forward to 2013 after dropping its third consecutive game at Chapman University on the final day of 2012.
Playing for the third day in a row, the Tigers ran out of gas early in the second half and the Panthers pulled away for the 62-48 victory.
CC trailed just 36-33 after sophomore forward
Chris Lesnansky scored two of his team-high 11 points 3:35 into the second half, but 6:18 expired before the Tigers struck again and CU took control of the game with a 12-2 run to open a 48-35 lead with 10:07 remaining.
After a bucket by junior point guard
Ryan Milne cut Colorado College's deficit to 58-48 with 1:17 to play, the Panthers closed out the scoring with four consecutive free throws.
Milne finished with nine points and a game-high four assists.
The Tigers took a 16-13 lead when freshman forward
Tyler Jonas scored the first two of his career-high eight points 8:04 into the game. All of his points came during a span of 3:10 and fueled a 12-6 run that helped CC wipe out an early 8-4 deficit.
Chapman made 16 of 22 free throws, while the Tigers converted on just 4 of nine attempts at the charity stripe. The Panthers also enjoyed a 31-22 advantage on the glass.
Sophomore guard Jordan Young led CU with a game-high 15 points. Sophomore forward Justin Young added 14 points, making seven of eight field-goal attempts.
Colorado College (4-6) returns to Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play this weekend when the Tigers visit Southwestern University and Trinity University on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
