2019 Golden Awards

On May 6, the Colorado College SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) sponsored an end of the year Athletics Banquet along with the fourth annual Golden Awards in Reid Arena.

The Tigers celebrated a great 2018-19 season with recaps from each program and SAAC representatives presented a few of their peers with annual awards. 

Male Athlete of the Year: Henry Baldwin (Men's Track and Field)

Female Athlete of the Year: Lauren Milliet (Women's Soccer)

Chris M. Quon Award: Rachael Martino (Women's Soccer)

Best Game in a Team Sport: Hockey defeated Denver, 1-0, in the regular-season finale to claim The Gold Pan.
 
Best Upset in a Team Sport: The cross country and track and field teams winning the Dougie Cup.

Best Moment: Lauren Milliet being drafted 14th overall by the North Carolina Courage of the National Women's Soccer League. She is the second CC women's soccer player drafted by the NWSL and the highest pick selected from CC.

Best Performance in an Individual Sport: Sophomore Camille Weaver was named the SCAC Female Athlete of the Meet after scoring 42 points at the SCAC Championships. She won the long jump and high jump, finished second in the 100-meter hurdles and the javelin, and third in the triple jump. Weaver would have finished fifth in the team standings with her 42 points. 

Best Team: The women’s volleyball team finished the 2018 season with a 32-3 record, ranked ninth in the nation and captured the SCAC Tournament Title for the second consecutive season. The team produced a second-team All-American, a third-team All-American and four All-SCAC first-team selections.

Sportsmanship Award: Sarah Lawton (Women's Volleyball)
 
Newcomer of the Year: Bryan Yoon (Hockey) - Named to the All-College Hockey News Rookie Team as one of the two best freshmen defensemen in the nation. He also was named to the NCHC All-Rookie Team and had the most points in one season by a CC freshman defenseman since 1996.

Coach of the Year: Susan Stuart  (Women's Lacrosse)

The banquet included a video featuring highlights from all 17 Tiger teams, produced by Molly Hiniker (Women's Soccer).

CC Athletics had much to be proud of this past year and it was great to celebrate with everyone.
