Tigers off to Wisconsin for first WCHA test

View complete press release »

After starting the season last weekend with an encouraging split at home against one of the nation's top teams from a year ago, the Tigers travel to Madison, Wis., for a two-game series at the Kohl Center against the University of Wisconsin this Friday and Saturday.

Faceoff is 7:07 p.m. (CT) both nights.

While Friday's regionally televised (Fox Sports Net and FSN Rocky Mountain) contest marks the Western Collegiate Hockey Association opener for both teams, it's also Wisconsin's initial taste of any competition in 2009-10.

Saturday's game will be streamed live on BigTenNetwork.com, via a direct link at http://video.bigtennetwork.com/about . The event is pay-per-view and costs $2.99 to watch.  An archive will be posted several hours after the game is complete as well.

Colorado College has made eight other trips to Madison since the Kohl Center was built, and actually owns a winning record (7-6-3) against UW there after splitting the only series between the teams last season. They do meet again, at the World Arena, in January of this campaign.

CC is not ranked in either of the two national polls this week. The Badgers, however, open their season at No. 13 in the one released on Tuesday by USCHO.com/CBS College Sports, as well as No. 14 in the latest one published on Monday by USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine.

The Tigers have won seven of the last eight meetings with Wisconsin overall, but trail in the all-time rivalry by a 105-57-8 margin that includes a 27-55-4 record in Madison.
