Tigers Celebrate 2024-25 Season With Golden Awards

The Colorado College Athletics Department staff, coaches and student-athletes gathered in Ed Robson Arena Tuesday night for the 2025 Golden Awards, celebrating the Tigers' 2024-25 athletic accomplishments.
 
Avery Johnson, a senior on the women's basketball team and President of the Colorado College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, opened the evening with a welcome to her fellow student-athletes.
 
Vice President and Director of Athletics Lesley Irvine also shared some thoughts with the student-athletes before the awards were handed out.

As a special presentation, senior Erin Capell from the women's track & field team presented the Service & Collaboration Award to her father, Greg, who is retiring from his position as the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Compliance on June 30, 2025, after 21 years at Colorado College.
 
The award winners were voted on by the student-athletes and athletics department staff:
 
Best Game – The hockey team rallied from a 3-0 deficit to score five consecutive goals and defeat No. 4-ranked Denver, 5-4, at Robson Arena.

Best Upset – Tie; The men's swimming and diving team upset Trinity to win the SCAC Championship, the first conference title in program history; and the women's cross country team (then ranked #17) won the John McNichols Invitational by defeating five Top 10 Division III teams, including No. 1-ranked NYU and No. 2 University of Chicago, and vaulting to the No. 1 ranking in Division III.
 
Best Moment – The women's basketball team defeated Trinity, 69-52, on Senior Day to secure the second undefeated home record in program history.
 
Best Performance (Individual) – Senior Zoe Tomlinson of the women's basketball team broke the SCAC career rebounding record with 17 rebounds against Austin College on Feb. 7. She finished her career with 1,281 rebounds.
 
Community Service Award – Junior Carolyn Dormady of the volleyball team. She is involved with Care and Share, Habitat for Humanity and CASA.
 
Best Team of the Year – The women's basketball team finished the 2024-25 season with a 23-4 record, the most wins in one season in program history, and advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time since 1990.
 
Coaching Staff of the Year – The women's lacrosse staff of head coach Susan Stuart and assistant coach AJ Johnson led the Tigers to their second consecutive WIAC regular-season and conference title. CC, which has tied the program record with 18 wins this season, travels to Pomona-Pitzer for a second-round contest in the NCAA Division III Tournament this weekend.
 
Newcomer of the Year – Freshman Owen Beckner of the hockey team led the Tigers in scoring this season with 27 points, the most by a CC freshman since 1996. He is also the first freshman to lead the team in scoring since 2014.

Jerry Carle Weight Room Award (Male) – Tie: Seniors Aiden Little (Men's Tennis) and Bennett Love (Men's Lacrosse)
 
Diversity and Inclusion Award – Senior Brayden Legette (Men's Lacrosse)
 
Tiger Award (Best Tiger Spirit) – Senior Kevin Dittman (Men's Basketball)
 
Mentorship Award – Senior Kaelin Enga (Women's Soccer)
 
Senior Male Student-Athlete of the Year – Senior Curtis Hale (Men's Soccer)
 
Senior Female Student-Athlete of the Year – Senior Zoe Tomlinson (Women's Basketball)
 
Service & Collaboration Award – Greg Capell (Senior Associate Athletics Director - Compliance)
 
Chris M. Quon Award (Established by the SAAC in 2010 following Quon's untimely death after graduating from CC in 2009) – Senior Healy Bledsoe (Women's Basketball & Lacrosse)
