Rose selected SCAC Player of the Week

Nick Rose became the first Colorado College men's basketball player to be named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week after he led CC to victories over Millsaps College and Hendrix College last weekend.

Rose averaged 28 points, 5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game, and shot .576 from the floor as the Tigers won back-to-back conference games for the first time since joining the SCAC prior to the 2007-08 season.

The native of Lakewood, Colo., recorded 26 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in Friday's 68-61 triumph over Millsaps. During Sunday's 71-60 win against Hendrix, he tied his career high with 30 points and added 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. Rose previously scored 30 points last year against Division II Western State College.

Rose leads the SCAC in scoring, averaging 22.8 points per game, and has scored 23 or more points in five of six games so far this season.

“Nick has definitely made the biggest improvement I've seen from one year to the next,” Head Coach Andy Partee said. “I didn't expect this type of consistent production from him this early in the season.

“Nick is playing like a senior. He doesn't have to think about it. He does it at will with skill.”

CC improved to 5-1 overall and already has matched last season's total number of victories. The Tigers are tied with Austin College atop the SCAC's West Division standings with a 2-0 record and face the Kangaroos on Jan. 9 in their next conference game.

Colorado College is idle until Dec. 15 when the Tigers put their three-game winning streak on the line at Division II Regis University in Denver.
