Nine different Tigers scored a point as Colorado College posted its first sweep of the season with a 9-0 victory over Colorado Christian University on Friday night.
CC won all three doubles points for the second consecutive match. Junior Zach Lygizos and freshman Nathan Lee combined for their first career victory by defeating Logan Moody and Nate Woodring, 8-5, at No. 3 doubles.
Nate Burt, Lionel Zen-Ruffinen and Thomas Modern earned two points apiece. Burt and Zen-Ruffinen teamed up for an 8-5 triumph at No. 1 doubles, then posted 6-3, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-2 victories at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively.
Thomas Modern and Sam Barnard earned an 8-6 victory at No. 2 doubles, and then Modern completed his two-point day with a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at No. 4 singles.
Will Lindsay and Zach White completed CC's perfect day by winning the first singles matches of their respective careers. White posted a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles, while Lindsay battled his way to a 6-4, 7-6 (10-4) victory at No.5 singles.
“Given the weather conditions I was pleased with the result,” head coach Naren Clark said. “Almost all of the matches were routine wins, with some nerves coming into play at No. 5 singles. I felt good about our ability to remain focused and get through matches against weaker opponents.”
Colorado College faces Air Force on Saturday at 2 p.m.
