CC signs international pair

Incoming class expands to 10

Colorado College's incoming class for the 2010 season has expanded to 10 with the addition of two international recruits.

Joining CC's roster as freshmen later this summer will be defender Yumi Ngyuen of Wellington, New Zealand, and defender/midfielder Cathèrine Zaumseil of Düsseldorf, Germany. Eight other players made commitments to the program earlier this year.

A member of New Zealand's U-20 national team pool the last two years, Nguyen played on the U-17 squad that defeated Colombia, 3-1, in 2008 to record the country's first-ever women's victory in World Cup competition. She has played in eight international tournaments at the U-17 level after initially being identified as one of New Zealand's top prospects in 2002. She also captained her high school team to district and regional championships her final year as a prep.

Zaumseil played club soccer for FC Köln's second team earlier this year after spending the 2008 and 2009 seasons with Junior FC Duisburg, both in her native country of Germany. She attended high school in Düsseldorf, serving as assistant captain of the girls ice hockey team in addition to finishing as the top goal scorer in soccer her final campaign.

The Tigers officially open their 2010 campaign on Friday, Aug. 27, with a 4 p.m. (MT) match at home against the University of Dayton.
