Continuing its tradition of showcasing one of the state's most intense rivalries, Altitude Sports has another special treat on tap for hockey fans throughout the Rocky Mountain West early in 2014.

The Denver-based network announced this week that it will televise Colorado College's game against the University of Denver from the World Arena on Saturday, Feb. 22.

The scheduled telecast starts at 7 p.m. MT and features the last of four regular-season meetings between the archrivals, who battle four times annually for the coveted Gold Pan. The Tigers and Pioneers also are founding members of the new National Collegiate Hockey Conference, which celebrates its inaugural campaign in 2013-14.

"We look forward to once again televising another chapter in the storied hockey history between Denver and Colorado College," said Doug Ballmer, senior director of programming for Altitude. "Viewers in our 10-state broadcast territory can look forward to the same old rivalry in a brand new conference."

Seen in more than 3.1 million homes in its 10-state territory, Altitude is the television home of the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, Colorado Mammoth, Colorado Rapids, Colorado Eagles, Denver Outlaws, the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, ESPN Syndication (including Big 12 Conference and American Athletic Conference events,) as well as other local and regional sports, entertainment and public service programming. Its programming also is available nationally to DirecTV and DISH sports package subscribers.  

CC, which went 3-3-1 in seven outings overall against Denver last season, will try to regain possession of the Gold Pan it has claimed 11 times in 20 years since inception of the trophy in 1993-94. The teams have played each other 290 times since the rivalry began more than 60 years ago. Colorado College owns a 20-9-4 edge, including a 6-5 overtime victory in 2012-13, in 33 all-time meetings at the World Arena.
