Box Score The Colorado College women's basketball team dropped a 74-42 decision to host UC Santa Cruz in its first game of the UCSC December Classic , Friday evening at West Fieldhouse in Santa Cruz, Calif.
 
Senior Danielle Davis led the scoring for the seventh time this season with seven points and also picked up a team-best three steals. Senior Katie Waters and junior Kali Place also added six points apiece.
 
The Banana Slugs outshot the Tigers 27-12 from the floor on a 43.5 field-goal percentage. CC shot 18-of-20 from the free-throw line, but was only able to shoot 12-of-66 from the floor.
 
UC Santa Cruz's Jean Dulay scored the first points of the game 1:12 into the half as she hit a three-pointer to help ignite an 11-4 run in the first quarter.
 
The Banana Slugs (4-3) continued its run into the second quarter holding a 34-25 lead at halftime. Trina Torres led the team with 11 points, while Ashley Holmes and Jasmin Dimson added 10 points each.
 
Senior Katie Wirth led CC on the boards with five rebounds. The guard also added a team-best three assists and grabbed two steals.  
 
Colorado College (1-6) will take on Whittier College in its final game of the UCSC December Classic on Saturday to finish its road trip in Santa Cruz at 5 p.m. PT.
