The Colorado College women's swimming team came close to winning its own CC Classic at Schlessman natatorium this weekend, but fell just short of meet champion CSU-Pueblo. The Thunderwolves finished the meet with 689 points, followed by CC (650), the University of Colorado (528), Adams State (509) and McMurry University (267).
 
"Today was quite an exciting close to the CC Classic," head coach Anne Goodman James said. "Everyone had a lot of swims this weekend, and I am really proud of the full team effort that I saw from us." 
 
Senior Olivia Dilorati led the Tigers once again with three wins on Sunday. She joined fellow senior Erin Homes and sophomore Ellen Silk and Emily Harrison to cruise to the 400-yard freestyle relay victory in a time of 3:45.45, more than eight seconds faster than the second-place team from CSU-Pueblo.
 
"Our team was seeded a distant third going into the meet and they pulled out a great win," Goodman James said. "After gaining a commanding lead by Olivia's 53.4 split, we just kept widening the gap." 
 
Dilorati then won the 100 butterfly and 50 freestyle in season-best times of 57.42 and 24.44 seconds, respectively. Holmes finished second in the 200 freestyle and Silk did the same in the 100 butterfly, while Harrison was third in the 200 and 1650 freestyle races. Sophomore Justina Zuckerman (50 freestyle) and freshman Kate Guynn (200 breaststroke) each captured a third-place finish as well on Sunday.
 
"Olivia was phenomenal today with some huge wins," Goodman James said. "Her versatility and quickness at this point in the season is very valuable to our team." 
 
The Tigers travel to the Grinnell College Invitational in Grinnell, Iowa, next weekend.
