The Colorado College swimming teams opened the 2016 calendar year Sunday by competing at the Orange Bowl Classic in Key Largo, Fla. The men's team battled Division I foes Air Force, Michigan and George Mason, while the women faced off against the same three schools as well as Vermont.

On the women's side, CC posted several top 10 finishes, including a team-best seventh-place effort by senior
Olivia Dilorati in the 50-meter butterfly with a time of 29.54 seconds. Dilorati also joined fellow senior
Megan Gillespie and sophomores
Ellen Silk and
Justina Zuckerman on the 200-meter medley relay team that placed seventh. CC's No. 2 team of sophomore
Hannah Cooper, freshman
Kate Guynn and seniors
Erin Holmes and
Becca Adams finished 10
th in the 200 medley race.

Silk finished eighth in the 100-meter fly, while Gillespie was 10
th in the 50 breaststroke. Dilorati and sophomore
Emily Harrison placed 11
th in the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke, respectively.

For the men, freshman
Ethan Schick posted the team's best individual finish by placing 10
th in the 50-meter butterfly. He also finished 11
th in the 50 backstroke, 13
th in the 100 freestyle and joined fellow freshman
Drew Ceglinski, junior
Crane Sarris and senior
Yueyang Yu for seventh place in the 200 medley relay.

Ceglinski had a pair of 12
th-place swims, in the 50 and 100 backstroke, while Sarris (100 free) and sophomores
Dennis Zhang (50 fly) and
Trey Watmore (100 fly) each finished 11
th in his race.

The Tigers closed the meet by finishing sixth (Watmore, Zhang,
Ian Carey and Nate Goodman) and seventh (Sarris, Schick, Yu and
Johannes Mansson) in the 200 freestyle relay.

Both teams return to action at the Colorado College Classic, Jan. 16-17, at Schlessman Natatorium. The meet begins at 10 am on Saturday, Jan. 16.
