Tigers Compete at Willamette Opener

Final Results

The Colorado College men's track and field team opened its 2016 outdoor season Saturday at the Willamette Opener Meet in Salem, Ore.
 
Freshman Quin Gattey led the Tigers by finishing seventh in three different events, the 100, 200 and 400-meter races. Sophomore Justin Nguyen placed sixth in the 100 with a time of 11.76 seconds and eighth in the 200 with a 23.81, while freshman Greg Williamson also finished sixth in the 800 with a season-best time of 2:04.4.
 
Freshman Henry Baldwin was the only finisher in the long jump by clearing 1.85 meters. Nguyen and Sean Fite also placed 10th in the 200 and 400, respectively.
 
In the distance races, junior Conor Terhune (16:04.5) and freshman David Eik (16:07.2)finished 12th and 13th, respectively, in the 5K race, each posting a personal-best time.
 
"We had a speactacular day for this early in the season," head coach Ted Castaneda said. "Our goals for this meet were not only met, they were exceeded."

The Tigers are idle until after spring break and will compete at the Jerry Quiller Classic in Boulder, Colo., on Saturday, March 19.
