Final ResultsThe Colorado College women's track and field team opened its 2016 outdoor season Saturday at the Willamette Opener Meet in Salem, Ore.

Freshman
Allysa Warling posted the team's best finish with a second-place showing in the 5K with a time of 17 minutes, 57.52 seconds. Junior
Katie Sandfort followed closely in third with a time of 17:57.86. Freshman
Rebecca Goldman was seventh in the race at 19:29.37. All of those times were personal bests and it marked the first time that two CC runners finished under the 18-mnute mark.

Junior
Stefani Messick continued her impressive running by finishing fourth in the 800 and 1,500-meter races. She posted a time of 2:22.31 in the 800, just ahead of sophomore
Duranya Freeman (2:22.67), and 4:58.74 in the 1,500. Freshman
Leah Veldhuisen, sophomore
Patty Atkinson and freshman
Kathryn Walsh finished ninth, 10
th and 12
th, respectively.

Junior
Ellie Swanson and sophomores
Asmeda Spalding-Aguirre and
McKenna Schnack also posted top 10 results as well. Swanson, who missed all of the 2015 season due to injury, finished ninth in the 200 meters and 10
th in the 400, while Spalding-Aguirre was eighth in the 400 and 10
th in the 100 and 200. Schnack was ninth in the 100.

Sophomore
Ayla Loper was the only high jumper in the meet and cleared 1.47 meters.

"I could not have asked for much more on the first day of the outdoor season," head coach
Ted Castaneda said. "We saw times today that we were not expecting to see until April."
The Tigers are idle until after spring break and will compete at the Jerry Quiller Classic in Boulder, Colo., on Saturday, March 19.
