Peter Mannino, a former head coach in the United States Hockey League and starting goaltender for the 2005 NCAA Division I national champions, enters his fourth season with the Tiger hockey program in 2024-25.
In July of 2023, Mannino was promoted to Associate Head Coach by Kris Mayotte.
Mannino was vital in the construction of the last three incoming classes, In addition to 2023-24 All-Americans Kaidan Mbereko and Noah Laba, a fourth-round selection of the New York Rangers in the 2022 NHL Draft, last year’s class included a pair of NHL Draft picks; Klavs Veinbergs, a seventh-round selection of the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2022, and Zaccharya Wisdom, a seventh-round pick of the Seattle Kraken in 2023.

This year’s incoming class includes six draft picks, including three transfers; Brady Cleveland (Univ. of Wisconsin), a second-round pick by Detroit in 2023, Ty Gallagher (Boston Univ.), selected in the seventh round by Boston in 2021 and Chase McLane (Penn State), a seventh-round selection by Nashville in 2020. Incoming freshmen Owen Beckner (Ottawa) and Carsen Musser (Utah) were selected in 2023 and Fisher Scott (Detroit) in 2024.
Prior to joining the CC staff, Mannino completed a two-year stint as head coach of the Des Moines Buccaneers, a member of the USHL. Before that, he spent two seasons coaching in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference. Mannino served as an assistant coach at Omaha during the 2018-19 season as an assistant coach, working as the primary scout and recruiter while coaching and developing Omaha’s goaltenders.

The following season, he was hired as the associate head coach at Miami University and was heavily involved in Miami’s recruiting efforts. He also served as the interim head coach at Miami for a brief time before heading to Des Moines.

Prior to his coaching tenure in the collegiate ranks, Mannino was an assistant coach with the Chicago Steel of the USHL for two seasons, working closely with the Steel's penalty kill unit that finished first in the league in 2017 and second in 2016. Chicago went 65-43-12 in the two seasons he spent on its bench, capturing the Clark Cup following the 2016-17 season, one that saw the Steel set a franchise record with 38 victories and 81 points.

Mannino accumulated an impressive playing career, including four years as a goaltender with the University of Denver, leading the Pioneers to the NCAA Division I National Championship as a freshman in 2005. Mannino was named the MVP of the Frozen Four that season, posting a .966 save percentage during the tournament.

He compiled a 61-32-5 overall record at Denver, with a 2.35 goals-against-average and school-record 15 shutouts. A 2008 graduate from Denver, Mannino earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in business management.

After college, he signed his first NHL contract with the New York Islanders, making appearances with the Islanders, Atlanta Thrashers, and Winnipeg Jets over a seven-year professional hockey career. His USHL experience also extends to time as a player, as he posted a USHL regular-season best 2.11 goals-against-average en route to a Clark Cup finals appearance with the Tri-City Storm in 2004.
