Colorado College recorded its eighth shutout of the season and the Tigers picked up a crucial three points in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference standings with a 4-0 victory over Austin College on Saturday afternoon in Sherman, Texas.
Colorado College got two goals and an assist from
Trevor Cobb and two scores from
Wes Rikkers, including what proved to be the game winner 12:52 into the game, as CC found the net more than twice in a game for the first time since a 5-0 victory over Millsaps College on Sept. 28.
Cobb set up Rikkers' first goal and then scored the next two en route to his first multiple-goal and sixth multiple-point game of the season . Cobb has been involved in seven of the Tigers' 11 game-winning goals, scoring four and assisting on three.
The Colorado College defense was just as effective, holding an opponent to fewer than five shots on goal for the 10th time while allowing fewer than 10 total shots for the 11th time.
Brian Engle made three saves en route to his fifth shutout of the season. He improved to 8-1-0 in goal and lowered his goals-against average to 0.44. Matt Dickinson stopped seven shots for the Kangaroos.
