Reese propels Tigers past Austin College

Jordan Reese made sure nothing spoiled homecoming and a pre-game ceremony honoring head coach Horst Richardson's 500th career victory.

Reese struck for the Tigers' first two goals and then set up two others to lead Colorado College to a 4-0 victory over Austin College on the frozen tundra of CC's Stewart Field on Saturday afternoon.

The senior midfielder tallied what proved to be the sixth game-winning goal of his career 12:58 into the first half when he sent a direct kick into the top left corner from 20 yards out.

Reese completed the first multi-goal game of his career just over 15 minutes later when he converted off a pass from senior midfielder Ben Hancock.

Senior forward Brendan Douglas extended CC's lead to 3-0 in the 39th minute, one-timing a crossing pass from Reese from 20 yards out on the left side that went inside the far post.

Matt Fechter completed the scoring with just under 20 minutes remaining when he beat Russell Pompea with a header off of a Reese corner kick. It was the fourth multi-assist game of Reese's career.

Despite having the territorial advantage early in the first half, the Kangaroos only had three shots. They added seven more in the second half.

Senior goalkeeper Brian Engle had to make only two saves while posting his third shutout of the season and the ninth of his career.

Grant Gosselin made one save for Austin College in the first half, while Pompea stopped three of the four shots he faced in relief.

The Tigers improved to 5-6-1 overall and 2-3-0 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. The 'Roos dropped to 1-8-0 overall and 0-5-0 in league play.

Colorado College will play host to Sewanee and Oglethorpe University next Friday and Sunday, respectively.
