Nicole Fazio was selected SCAC Diver of the Week after posting NCAA qualifying scores on the 1-meter board on back-to-back days at Wheaton College (Mass.) and Tufts University.

Fazio achieved her first NCAA qualifying score while winning the 1-meter diving with a score of 259.87 at Wheaton College. She also took second on the 3-meter board with 217.57 points in her first collegiate competition in that event

The following day at Tufts, the freshman from Littleton, Colo. won the 1-meter diving and surpassed the NCAA qualifying mark with a season-best score of 264.08. Fazio also won the 3-meter competition with a score of 212.18.

Divers must meet the NCAA qualifying scores twice in order to submit video to be considered to compete at the NCAA Division III National Championships in March.

“Nicole had fantastic performances while in Boston,” Diving Coach Ellen Walker said. “She's a very solid 1-meter diver. Her competitiveness led her to generate two NCAA qualifying scores on the 1-meter board, which is a tremendous accomplishment for a freshman only eight weeks into the season."

The weekly award is the first of Fazio's career.
