Despite Dan Solomon's come-from-behind victory at No. 1 singles, Colorado College lost its third consecutive match on Thursday at Whittier College.
The Poets used the momentum built by sweeping the three doubles matches and went on to post an 8-1 win over the Tigers.
Solomon, ranked No. 15 in the west Region, improved to 5-1 by coming from behind to defeat Sean Robertson 3-6, 6-1, 6-1. It was Solomon's third three-set victory of the season and the second after dropping the opening set.
Nate Burt dropped a 6-3, 6-4 decision at No. 2 singles, while Thomas Modern put up a battle before falling 6-3, 6-3.
Colorado College will compete in the Stag-Hen Invitational on Friday and Saturday, along with Amherst College, Colorado College, Hope College, Pacific Lutheran University, Trinity College, Chapman University and tournament hosts Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Pomona-Pitzer Colleges.
