Tigers drop 3-1 decision to Centre

Ryan Garvey scored a pair of goal to lead Centre College to a 3-1 victory over Colorado College in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference game on Friday night at Washburn Field.

Garvey gave the Colonels a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute when he took a pass from Ben Van Nevel and scored with a shot toward the left post from eight yards out.

The Tigers tied the game 13 minutes later when Matt Fechter's hard shot off from near the right post bounced off a defender and into the net.

But less than two minutes later, the Centre countered off a CC attack and went ahead for good when Garvey took a feed from Brian Fay and scored from 12 yards out on a shot inside the near post.

Austin Hall added an insurance goal with just under 11 minutes remaining to complete the scoring.

Chris Jackson made three saves for the Colonels, while McGhie had five for Colorado College.

Centre improved to 11-2-1 overall and 6-0-1 in the SCAC. The Tigers dropped to 6-6-2 overall and 4-3-0 in the conference.

Colorado College returns to action on Sunday against DePauw University on Stewart Field.
