Trinity University struck for a pair of goals 2:24 apart early in the first half and never looked back as it cruised to a 6-0 victory over visiting Colorado College in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference game on Friday night.
Trinity, ranked No. 7 in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll, ran up a 35-2 advantage in total shots while knocking CC out of a share of first place in the SCAC.
Colorado College slipped to 6-4-2 overall and 4-1-0 in conference play. Trinity improved to 9-2-0 overall and 3-0-0 in the SCAC.
Zachary Garcia put the hosts on the board 15:17 into the game after taking a feed from Nima Naderi, and then Denny Mask doubled TU's advantage 144 seconds later.
Yuri Ribeiro made it 3-0 in the 27th minute with the first of his two goals, and Trinity added three markers in the second half.
Andy McGhie had six of his career-high 11 saves during the first half when Trinity out-shot CC 17-0.
Tim Nelin earned the shutout without making a save.
Colorado College returns to action on Sunday at Southwestern University.
