Colorado College is used to getting 20-point performances from one of its guards. Only this time, it didn't come from Nick Rose.
Freshman point guard Ryan Milne exploded for 27 points to lead Colorado College to a 68-48 victory over Hendrix College in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference opener for both teams on Friday night.
Milne added nine assists and seven rebounds to help the Tigers improve to 4-2 overall.
Brady Ohlsen had 15 points and nine rebounds for CC, while Jeremiah Waters added 10 points.
Ohlsen scored six points during a 17-3 run that allowed Colorado College to build a 22-8 lead just before the midway point of the first half.
The Warriors pulled to within 29-21 when Ammon Martin canned a jump shot, but the Tigers scored eight of the ensuing nine points to take a 15-point lead when Milne drained a three-pointer with 1:51 to play in the first half.
CC opened a 22-point lead on an Ohlsen layup with 14:29 remaining in the game, and Hendrix never got closer than 12 points the rest of the way.
Chris Goodman paced the Warriors with 10 points, while Martin and Nick Heathscott chipped in nine apiece.
Colorado College (4-2, 1-0 SCAC) visits Millsaps College on Sunday.
