Tigers dominate McMurry in home opener

The Colorado College men's soccer team opened its home schedule in impressive fashion with a 2-0 victory over McMurry University on Saturday afternoon at CC's Stewart Field.

Freshman Andrew Salazar's first career goal proved to be the game winner and helped CC square its record at 2-2-0. He scored in the 59th minute after taking a pass from Chris Lutz, going around a defender on the left side before launching a shot from 10 yards out.

Sophomore Matt Fechter provided an insurance goal with an unassisted tally in the 66th minute. His direct kick from just outside the top of the box went off goalkeeper David Fisher's hand and off the left post.

Andy McGhie made one save en route to his second consecutive shutout and the fourth of his career.

The Tigers dominated possession and finished with a 26-8 advantage in shots on goal and a 13-1 margin in shots on goal. Colorado College also had a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Fisher stopped 11 shots, including four in the first half, to keep the game scoreless.
