Fechter leads Tigers past Austin College

Box Score Junior forward Matt Fechter had a goal and an assist to lead Colorado College to a 2-0 victory over Austin College in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference game on Friday afternoon at CC's Stewart Field.

Fechter set up senior midfielder Chris Lutz for what proved to be the game-winning goal with a perfect cross from 30 yards out on the right side.

Lutz put a header past Grant Gosselin eight yards out from the left post to record the team's third consecutive game-winning goal.

Lutz now has four goals in the last four games and CC has prevailed each time he has found the net.

Fechter doubled the Tigers' lead in the 64th minute when he converted on a penalty kick after the Kangaroos were called for a handball inside the penalty box. He put a low shot into the right side of the net to improve to 2-for-2 on PK's this season.

Forrest Marowitz made four saves en route to his third shutout of the season and his second in league play. The junior goalkeeper improved to 3-1-3 overall and 3-0-0 in league play.

The Tigers improved to 8-3-3 overall and 3-2-0 in the SCAC.

Gosselin finished with seven saves for Austin College, which dropped to 5-6-2 overall and 1-4-0 in the SCAC.

Colorado College plays host to the University of Dallas on Sunday in the final home game of the regular season.
