Centenary stuns Tigers, 1-0

Box Score The Centenary Gents were anything but the perfect hosts.

Senior midfielder Adam Ghaemmaghami struck for the only goal of the game in the 71st minute and senior goalkeeper Robbie Ramirez stopped a penalty kick by All-American Matt Fechter to give Centenary a 1-0 victory over No. 22 Colorado College on Friday night.

After a lackluster first half in which the Tigers took only four shots, they launched 10 shots in less than 25 minutes to open the second frame. But just when it appeared CC would break the game open, the Gents broke the scoreless deadlock with their first shot of the half.

Ghaemmaghami converted off touches from Kellen Klaus and John Seat to give Centenary a lead that appeared to be short lived just 3:07 later.

That's when Fechter lined up a penalty shot that nearly everyone expected to find the back of the net. But for the first time in four career attempts, the senior forward was denied.

Colorado College out-shot the Gents 5-2 during the final 16 minutes, but was unable to get a ball passed Ramirez who finished with seven saves.

Marowitz stopped five shots for the Tigers, but saw his record slip to 9-1-2 with his first loss of the season.

CC, which had already locked up second place in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, dropped to 12-4-2 overall and 5-2-1 in league play. Three of the Tigers' four losses were by 1-0 scores.

Centenary improved to 4-1-0 overall and 1-8-0 in the conference.

Colorado College plays its final game of the regular season on Sunday at Austin College.
