Alec Sowers recorded a goal and an assist to help Colorado College defeat Centenary College, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon at Stewart Field.
Sowers set up a tally by
Matt Fechter 5:21 into the second half and then struck for the first goal of his collegiate career with a little less than 14 minutes remaining to seal the victory.
Fechter's tally was his fourth game winner of the season and the 12th of his career. He also has four game-winning assists. Fechter established a personal single-season high with his 12th goal and tied his personal best of 33 points set last year.
CC launched a total of 21 shots, while allowing only four for the second time this season.
The shutout was the seventh of the season for the Tigers, who have blanked five of eight opponents at Stewart Field. Colorado College has a 20-4 advantage in goals at home this season.
Senior goalkeeper
Forrest Marowitz made three saves while recording his second shutout of the season and the fifth of his career.
Robbie Ramirez stopped seven shots before giving way to Chase Duet with 6:25 remaining in the game.
The Tigers improved to 10-3-0 overall and 4-1-0 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Gents slipped to 2-9-0 overall and 0-5-0 in league play.
Colorado College travels to Irving, Texas next week to face UC Santa Cruz on Saturday and the University of Dallas on Sunday.
