The Colorado College men's tennis team split a pair of sweeps on Saturday in San Antonio, Texas. The Tigers were perfect against Austin College with a 9-0 victory in the morning, but fell in the afternoon as No. 11 Trinity University swept CC, 9-0.
The Tigers began the day in doubles play where they swept all three matches against Austin.
Nate Burt and
Lionel Zen-Ruffinen earned an 8-4 victory over Tarun Palapati and James Taylor at the No. 1 singles position.
Zach White and
Robert Kasemodel also earned an 8-4 win at the No. 3 doubles position over Jack Kunde and Spencer Gander.
Will Lindsay and
Jack Burger finished the doubles sweep with an 8-5 win over Tyler Roush and Sanyal Patel at the No. 2 doubles position.
Lindsay and Kasemodel led CC against Austin during singles play dropping only one point in each match.
Lindsay beat James Taylor, 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 2 singles position, while Kasemodel beat Spencer Gander, 6-1, 6-0. With the win, Kasemodel improved to 10-1 on the season in singles play and rides an eight-game winning streak and improved to a perfect 5-0 on the season at No. 4 singles.
Burt earned a 6-3, 6-4 victory at the No. 1 singles position, while Zen-Ruffinen beat Palapati 6-2, 7-5 at the No. 3 singles position.
The Tigers finished the sweep with victories at the No. 5 and No. 6 singles position. Burger beat Kunde 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5 singles, while White won over Patel 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.
During the afternoon's competition, CC was unable to come up with victories over Trinity, dropping all nine matches.
Colorado College moved to 6-8 on the season and continues play in San Antonio to take on Southwestern University on Sunday at 10 a.m.
