Tigers beat Southwestern, 6-3

The Colorado College men's tennis team ended the weekend on a high note when it beat Southwestern University, 6-3 on Sunday morning in San Antonio, Texas.

“It was very impressive to see our energy and passion for competing, especially after playing as many matches as we have in such a short period of time,” said head coach Todd Doebler. “As coaches, we are really proud of the guys' progress.”

The Tigers began the day in doubles play where they took an early 2-1 lead over the Pirates.

Zach White and Robert Kasemodel led doubles action with an 8-2 victory over Alvaro Rojas and Jonathan Sandoval at No. 3 doubles.

Will Lindsay and Jack Burger partnered for an 8-4 victory against Andy Clarage and Alec Bergerson to help give CC an early edge.

“It was a great college tennis match,” said Doebler. “Our doubles play was strong today.”

During singles play, Kasemodel led the team with his best performance of the season with a perfect 6-0, 6-0 sweep over Sandoval at No. 4 singles. The freshman improved to 6-1 on the season at the No. 4 singles position and improved to an impressive 11-2 on the season during singles action.
