Tigers finish off on Puget Sound

With one of its top players sidelined, Colorado College rose to the occasion in style on Tuesday.

The Tigers claimed five of six singles matches en route to defeating University of Puget Sound, 6-3, and finishing their spring-break trip to Orlando, Fla., with a 3-2 record.

Robert Kasemodel, who battled through an injury to win his No. 3 doubles match with Jack Burger, was not able to continue in singles. His replacement, Taylor Delehanty, posted a 6-4, 6-0 victory at No. 6 that gave his team a 3-2 lead at the time, shortly after Burger tied the match with a 6-3, 6-1 triumph at No. 4.

Casey Shaw, Oliver Gunter and Will Lindsay followed suit in the No. 5, 2 and 1 slots to finish off the Loggers and help Colorado College improve to 4-5 overall for the 2012-13 season.

"Today was a great team effort," said head coach Todd Doebler. "Everyone really stepped up and finished strong in their singles matches. Will and Oliver did a great job winning at the top spots and our freshmen came through lower in the line up."

Senior Lindsay went to a tiebreaker at No. 1 before prevailing with an inspired 1-6, 6-1, 7-6 (9-7) decision over Graham Baker. Junior Gunter also rallied from behind to win in three sets 2-6, 6-2, 6-3.
