With Robert Kasemodel sitting out singles and Oliver Gunter hobbled by a painful ankle on Sunday, Colorado College looked for others to step up after taking two of three doubles matches.

Zach White, Jack Burger, Casey Shaw and Taylor Delehanty rose to the occasion, each moving up a notch in the lineup and winning to lead the Tigers to a 6-3 home-court triumph over Hastings College.

White, Burger and Delehante had no problem finishing off their respective opponents at No. 3, 4 and 6, each winning in straight sets. But, with the day's team result still hanging in the balance, freshman Shaw needed to bounce back from 7-5 loss in Game 1 to clinch the victory.

"I kept thinking 'I've got to stay in here and keep winning points,'” Shaw said after dominating 6-1 in the second game then prevailing 10-5 in the tiebreaker to put CC up 5-3 at the time. "I just loosened up and played more aggressively.”

The victory at No. 5 avenged a tough 8-6 loss at No. 3 doubles for Shaw, whose partner Kasemodel became ill after the match. Delehanty, who replaced classmate Shaw at No. 6 singles, followed up with a 6-1, 6-1 trouncing as Colorado College won for the fourth time in its last five matches and improved to 6-6 for the season. 

The Tigers resume play next weekend with a pair of non-league matches on the road, at Sul Ross State University and Texas Lutheran University, before returning to the Lone Star State for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championships in San Antonio on April 27 and 28.
