Colorado College did not go down without a fight on Saturday.
CC, which will battle for a league title at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championships next weekend, nevertheless saw its three-match winning streak bite the dust in a 6-3 setback at Texas Lutheran University.
The host Bulldogs, who recently clinched their first-ever divisional title in the American Southwest Conference, improved to 13-7 overall for the season and are ranked No. 18 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's latest West Region poll. They prevailed in No. 1 through 4 singles, as well as in No. 1 and 2 doubles.
The Tigers, meanwhile, will take a 7-7 overall mark to the SCAC tournament in San Antonio after losing for just the second time in their last seven outings.
Freshman
Casey Shaw was Colorado College's only dual winner on Saturday, taking his No. 6 singles match in straight sets (6-3, 6-3) while teaming up with
Robert Kasemodel for an 8-6 victory at No. 3 doubles. Kasemodel, a sophomore, dropped a tough 6-3, 3-6, 5-7 decision at No. 2 singles. Senior
Jack Burger accounted for CC's other triumph at No. 5 singles.
