Tigers blanked by Mesa State

Colorado College ran into a bit of a buzzsaw at Garden of the Gods Club on Saturday.

Mesa State University, which made the short trip up I-25 after playing an earlier match against CSU-Pueblo, handed the Tigers a 9-0 defeat that prevented CC from reaching .500 for the season.

Closest match of the day came at No. 6 singles, where freshman Casey Shaw dropped a tough 7-6 (4) decision to CMU's Jason Casson in the first set before succumbing 6-1 in the second.

Other than No. 5 singles, where Colorado College senior Jack Burger was outdueled by a 6-4, 6-3 score, the NCAA Division II Mavericks did not lose more than two games in any given set – doubles or singles.

The Tigers, who fell to 4-6 overall, resume action at home against Southwestern University on Saturday and Hastings College on Sunday.
