Fluke goals doom CC

Capital University strikes twice in second half to beat Tigers, 2-1

Box Score Colorado College gave up a pair of unorthodox goals in the second half on Friday and poof, just like that, both a lead and potential victory vanished.

Nick Eley scored off a high bouncing punt in the 57th minute and Tim McCarthy knocked a ball loose from goalkeeper Ian Horne's grasp in the 64th, lifting Capital University to a 2-1 victory over the Tigers in Delaware, Ohio.

The loss overshadowed a first-half tally by CC senior Brandon Ogilvie, who scored for the first time since the 2011 season opener. Ogilvie, who staked his team to a 1-0 advantage 30:07 into Friday's game, was limited to only 12 games the last two seasons combined due to a pair of separate injuries.

His goal stood up until 11:26 into the second half, when Capital keeper Bob Weisgarber's punt hopped high over Horne's head and Eley headed it into the vacated net. Weisgarber finished with seven saves as Colorado College out-shot the Crusaders by a 14-9 margin overall.
Capital, 2-0 for the season, capitalized on its only two attempts on target.

The Tigers, 0-1-1, shoot to break into the winning column at 7:30 p.m. ET Saturday, when they take on host Ohio Wesleyan University.
