The Colorado College men's tennis team closed out its 2015 regular season Sunday with an 8-1 loss to Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas. The Bulldogs improved to 9-6 this season while CC fell to 3-14.
Â
TLU jumped out to a 3-0 lead by sweeping the doubles matches, but senior
Jack Burger and sophomore
Jason Gutierrez put up a valiant fight at the No. 1 spot before falling, 9-7, to Sanio Dizdarevic and Cliff Pack.
Â
Gutierrez claimed the lone point for the Tigers with an impressive 6-1, 6-1 victory over Pack at the No. 1 singles position. The Bulldogs took the 2-5 spots in straight sets, while sophomore
Jack Benham took Greg Nelson to three sets before falling 6-3, 2-6, 1-0(3).
Â
"We competed hard once again, but dug ourselves hole in the doubles and couldn't get any momentum in the match," CC head coach
Anthony Weber said.
Â
The Tigers travel to San Antonio, Texas for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championships, April 24-26. The brackets will be announced later this week.Â
