Box Score Freshman midfielder
Jackson Silverstein scored his first collegiate goal in the 82nd minute to lift the Colorado College men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory at Texas Lutheran University on Sunday afternoon.
Silverstein collected a pass from junior defender
Keenan Amer and sent a crossing shot from 12 yards out on the right side into the far corner.
"Soccer is a funny game," head coach
Scott Palguta said. "We deserved a goal in the first half but didn't get one, and then we played poorly in the second half and found the goal we needed late.
"It was clear we had tired legs, but the second-half substitutions gave us a real boost. I'm thrilled for
Jackson Silverstein who has played well for weeks now and got his reward in today's game."
CC improved to 7-2-2 overall and 5-1-1 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
The Tiger defense played another outstanding game, allowing just four shots on goal while posting its fourth shutout in the last five games.
Senior goalkeeper
Theo Hooker made four saves while recording his fifth clean sheet of the season.
Brendan Soto stopped seven shots for the Bulldogs, who dropped to 2-7-2 overall and 1-5-1 in the conference.
CC finished with a 16-12 advantage to total shots, while both teams produced eight corner kicks.
Colorado College plays host to Schreiner University and Trinity University next week on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
