Sam Markin scored goals, while
Cam Stopforth added a pair of assists to lead Colorado College to a 2-0 victory over Southwestern University on Friday night at Washburn Field.
The Tigers improved to 10-3-3 overall and 8-2-2 overall, and reached the 10-win mark for the seventh year in a row.
CC got on the board 4:01 into the game when Huettel scored his third goal of the season off of a cross from Stopforth, putting a header from the center of the box past Southwestern senior goalkeeper Ryan Benner.
Midway through the second half, Benner made a big save on a shot by CC's
Sam Bermingham from 10 yards away on the left side of the box to keep the Pirates within striking distance.
Colorado College added an insurance goal in the 82nd minute when senior forward
Sam Markin collected a pass from Stopforth and beat Benner from a sharp angle at the right post.
With his two assists, Stopforth took over the team lead with six.
Senior goalkeeper
Theo Hooker made just one save while recording his eighth shutout of the season and the 33rd of his career.
His only stop occurred with 3:28 remaining on a header by junior forward Alex Newell from the center of the box.
Benner finished with four saves for the Pirates, who slipped to 4-9-3 overall and 2-7-3 in the SCAC.
The Tigers play host to Texas Lutheran University on Sunday in their final home game of the season.
