Tigers Edge Southwestern, 2-1

Box Score Colorado College struck for a pair of first-half goals and then hung on for a 2-1 victory at Southwestern University on Friday night.

The Tigers improved to 6-2-2 overall and 4-1-1 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
 
Senior midfielder Joel Frykholm put CC on the board in the 17th minute when he beat Pirate senior goalkeeper Ryan Benner inside the near post with a shot off of senior midfielder Tim Huettel's corner kick.
 
Senior forward Cam Stopforth made it 2-0 in the 32nd minute when he converted off of junior midfielder Robert Malone's feed from the left end line to the center of the box.
 
Southwestern cut its deficit in half seven minutes into the second frame when sophomore midfielder Kip Karschnik's touch on a loose ball in the crease trickled over the goal line.
 
His goal was the first allowed by the Tiger defense in 366 minutes.
 
Senior goalkeeper Theo Hooker, who finished with four saves, wasn't tested until the 41st minute on a shot by junior forward Jake Swonke.
 
CC finished with a 20-10 advantage in total shots and a 9-2 margin in corner kicks.
 
Benner finished with seven saves for the Pirates, who dropped to 3-4-3 overall and 1-2-3 in league play.
 
Colorado College wraps up its two-game trip to the Lone State State on Sunday at Texas Lutheran University.
