CC Falls at Texas Lutheran, 2-1

Sophomore midfielder Will Mallory struck for his third goal of the season in the 82nd minute, however this time one goal was not enough to get the Colorado College men's soccer team a victory.

Texas Lutheran University became just the third opponent to score two or more goals against the Tigers and held on for a 2-1 victory on Friday night at Gustafson Field.

CC played from behind almost the entire night after Luis Green scored an unassisted goal 7:46 into the contest. He picked up a deflection off the bar and fired a shot into the top left corner.

The goal snapped Colorado College's shutout at 461:45.

Green's shot stood as the games only score until Cameron Townes converted from the penalty spot early in the 71st minute.

Mallory broke up the shutout with 8:06 to remaining in regulation when he slipped a shot into the lower right corner from seven yards away.

The Tigers had three opportunities to level the score in the waning minutes, but Jackson Silverstein's shot went over the crossbar near the end of the 83rd minute and Mallory had his last minute shot blocked.

CC earned a corner kick during the final 10 seconds, but was unable to generate a shot.

Colorado College finished the game with a 12-11 edge in total shots and a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Sophomore goalkeeper Keller Mochel stopped a pair of shots for the Tigers, who slipped to 10-4 overall and 8-3 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Brandan Soto finished with five saves for TLU, which improved to 7-5 overall and 6-4 in league play.

CC plays its final road game of the regular season on Sunday at Southwestern University.
