Sophomore goaltender
Jade Odom made a season-high seven saves, but the Colorado College women's soccer team was kept off the scoreboard for just the second time this season and settled for a scoreless draw at Colorado State University on Sunday afternoon.
It marked the second year in a row the Mountain West rivals battled for 110 minutes without producing a goal.
Odom, who stopped three shots during the second overtime to keep her fifth shutout of the season intact, helped the Tigers earn a point while extending their season records to 7-4-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the Mountain West.
Despite controlling the run of play during the second 45 minutes, CC was unable to dent the Ram defense or the crossbar.
The Tigers came within inches of breaking through late in the first half when junior midfielder
Lucia Costanza hit the crossbar with a header in the 40th minute, and then again when junior midfielder
Johanna Hamblett rang on shot off the crossbar with a little less than four minutes remaining in regulation.
Colorado College finished the contest with an 18-14 edge in total shots, while Colorado State had an 11-6 advantage in corner kicks. Â
Hunter Peifer made five saves for the Rams, the biggest of which was on
Lauren Milliet's penalty kick in the 76th minute.
The Rams now are 5-5-4 overall and 2-2-2 in conference play.
Colorado College returns home to play host to Utah State University and Boise State University on Friday, Oct. 12, and Sunday, Oct. 14, respectively.
