The Colorado College men's soccer team was unable to find the net for just the second time this season and dropped a 1-0 result at Southwestern University on Saturday in a semifinal match of the 2018 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Championship.
Sophomore defender Brendan Dauth scored on a header off an in-swinging corner kick in the 23rd minute for what proved to be the only goal of the contest.
CC's best scoring chance came on a late corner kick, but Pirate goalkeeper Alan Carr denied a shot by sophomore midfielder
Skyler Stark-Ragsdale to keep his clean sheet intact.
Keller Mochel stopped three shots for the Tigers, who finished the season with a 13-6-1 overall record.
"I'm incredibly grateful to this senior class and all they accomplished during their time at Colorado College," head coach
Scott Palguta said. "It has been a pleasure to coach them all and I can't thank them enough for all they have done to shape this group of players into team we all can be proud of.
"It's been a wonderful four-year journey and I'm sad to see it come to an end."
The Tigers finished with an 11-10 edge in total shots and a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.
The game was the last for Colorado College's six seniors, who posted a combined 54-16-10 record during their four seasons.
Carr made four saves for Southwestern, which improved to 11-5-2 and will play host to top-seeded Trinity University in Sunday's tournament finale.
TU advanced with a 2-1 overtime victory against Texas Lutheran University.
