The Colorado College men's tennis team opened the 2018 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tennis Championships with a decisive 5-1 victory over Schreiner University Friday afternoon at Lifetime Fitness in Colorado Springs.

The fifth-seeded Tigers jumped out to an early 2-1 lead with wins at the Nos. 2 and 3 doubles spots. Sophomore

Alex Kley were off the court first with an 8-3 victory over Roger Santos and Juan Ortiz at No. 3. After sophomore

Sam Hum dropped an 8-5 decision to Luis Cabreja and Andrew Albright at the top spot, senior
Brian Chen and junior
Christian Kitchen won the No. 2 match, 8-5, over Josh Newman and Matt Jiminez.

The Tigers continued their domination in singles, winning the first three matches off the court to clinch the victory. Hum routed Santos, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 2, followed by a 6-2, 6-1 victory by Pepperl over Jiminez at No. 4. Forman clinched the team match with a 6-0, 6-3 triumph over Cabreja at the No. 1 position. The other matches were pulled off the court at that time.

Colorado College will face top-seeded Southwestern University in the semifinals on Saturday, April 21, beginning at 10 a.m., at the Air Force Academy. Â Â
